'The single biggest threat to man’s continued dominance on the planet is the virus.' — Joshua Lederberg
It's not the pandemic. It's the waiting. Waiting to return to a normal that will never arrive. Waiting to return to work that will never be the same. Waiting to see loved ones again who are changed. Waiting for a familiar that will have unsettling degrees of unfamiliar. Waiting to feel secure but forever insecure and anxious. Waiting for everything to be the way it once was.
The reality that illusion has gone. Of fooling oneself that forward planning is a sure thing. It is loss on a global, local, individual scale. Loss on a level that is devastating.
Even if you have not experienced direct loss the shock waves are inescapable. The ripples will still arrive and hit at different times, different intensities, different levels. There is no escape from the reality that brutal change is happening and affecting the human species in ways that have never been known in our lifetimes.
To feel immune from the carnage of this event would indicate a level of insensitivity that is totally unacceptable. To know what is happening but not care about the suffering that is occurring is unfortunately a crime that humans are all to guilty of.
It is all very well to psychologically know that change is the only constant. But to fully experience that bring you up short, drive you to your knees immediacy of such a reality is indeed a humbling sobering experience. There is a reason why such events are the apex of grief and loss. The pinnacle of pain.
No human is getting out of this unscathed, even those who believe they are untouched. There are no lessons in this pandemic but there are inescapable realities. We are not invincible, we are dispensable. We are not disconnected from nature; we are interconnected with everything on this planet. Our rules mean nothing in comparison to the greater consequences of this powerful planetary system.
This planet does not belong to us. Nor does it exist for our wanton pleasure. We cannot trash, burn, rape, destroy, without repercussions on a global scale of nightmare proportions. Nothing exists in isolation, yet we have indeed isolated ourselves from nature and hoisted ourselves onto the lofty arrogant position of supreme deciders, controllers, and apex predators.
So, we wait.
Even the hoaxers, influencers, deniers, selfish narcissists, doomsday preppers, etc. Even they will be looking over their shoulders and will have no choice but to bend to the realities of a pandemic that for most has delivered pain, anxiety, fear and disease for the remainder of their lives and for generations who are yet to arrive.
Observing whats real is becoming increasingly difficult. This site is my view, my perception and my commentary on what I believe to be real, from my own unique position.
