Wasn’t so much the assault from behind by spit the day before. Wasn’t even the premeditated front on gut strike the following day, inflicted via base of an empty large plastic coke bottle. A thrust attack carried out with an obvious amount of very well practiced speed and accuracy. It wasn’t even the follow up blow between the shoulder blades a split second later, as the assailant moved past. And it wasn’t even the verbal altercation when shock demanded a responsive reactionary and albeit naive, ‘what’s your problem’? And finally it wasn’t even the reality that it happened in broad daylight whilst walking to a shop, or that passers-by didn’t lose stride or composure, or that it could have been a knife, or that the perpetrator of such collective insults and assaults was an Indigenous woman.
It’s the very open reality that such occurrences are normal and dare I say, just expected in and around the Top End of Australia. That’s the very real problem in regard to the unique issues that plague this part of this Nation, a country that the United Nations has often ‘encouraged’ to do better in its treatment of Indigenous people.
Charles Darwin proved that the theory of evolution by natural selection is the process by which organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits.
It would appear that Darwin Town has proven that an evolving theory of ‘toughen up’ is the naturally selected and chosen behavioral practice when it comes to dealing with the ‘unique issue with an ugly truth’. And if one can’t naturally or chooses other than, then one can just physically, ‘fuck off’.
Guess that’s referred to as a ‘Lifestyle Choice’.
Observing whats real is becoming increasingly difficult. This site is my view, my perception and my commentary on what I believe to be real, from my own unique position.
